Shelley Pascual is a German-speaking multimedia journalist, content creator and Toronto native who has lived in Europe for the past six years.
Currently based in Berlin working as a reporter at The Local Germany, she has been interviewed by Sky News and National Post Radio for her coverage of the 2017 German federal election and the subsequent collapse in coalition talks.
Prior to freelancing for international media outlets such as J-Source and The Inkline, Shelley graduated with a Distinction from the MA International Journalism program at Cardiff University in Wales in late 2016.
With a diverse background, she’s also been a Corporate Trainer to executives at Volkswagen Financial Services in Germany. When she moved to Germany in 2012, she taught herself German and learned how to integrate into a culture completely different from her own.
In 2010, she booked a one-way ticket to Melbourne and spent one year working and backpacking solo throughout Australia. Her experiences as a foreigner living abroad and travelling widely are what inspired her to pursue a career in journalism.
Shelley also has an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design. Having studied at OCAD University, she is a creative and conceptual thinker. She also has a critical eye for typography and photography.
In her free time, Shelley enjoys going for joy rides on her vintage scooter, mountain biking and baking anything with chocolate in it. She is enthusiastic about languages and inspired by people who go after their dreams.
